Jr. Cougar Cheer

The Center Jr. Cougar (CJC) Youth Cheer Program is
committed to promoting academic excellence,
sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork while
providing training and experience for future
Center High School Cheerleaders. Cheerleaders
in the CJC Cheer Program learn basic
foundational cheerleading skills which include
cheering, dancing and stunting. CJC
Cheerleaders learn the value of teamwork and
sportsmanship in a positive, nurturing, learning
environment with guidance from skilled,
trained, experienced coaches, choreographers
& instructors.

CJC Cheer serves as a true feeder program for
the Center High School Cheer Program.
Throughout the year, both organizations support each other through joint activities and collaboration. Under the supervision of both the CJC & CHS Cheer Coaching Staff, the CHS Varsity Cheerleaders teach sidelines, stunting and dance routines to Jr. Cougar Cheerleaders at the Jr. Cougar Football & Cheer Camp. Throughout the season, CHS Varsity Cheerleaders volunteer their time to choreograph material and assist CJC Cheer Coaches with instruction. Both organizations join together again for Jr. Cougar Night, a unique event where Jr. Cougar Cheerleaders cheer alongside the high school cheerleaders during a Friday night high school football game. Both cheer organizations support one another at competition. In the off season, members of the CJC Cheer Staff support the high school program by judging high school cheer tryouts. CJC has reaped the benefits that come from having a truly collaborative relationship with our local high school cheer program.

Program Commitment:

Jr. Cougar Camp: Learn sideline cheers, dances, and proper stunting techniques to prepare for the season. (August 1st-5th)

Weekly Practice is held at Center High School (Tues, Wed, Thurs 5:30-7:30)

Saturday games: Home games are in the sparkling, new CHS stadium.

Jr. Cougar Night*: Get a taste of high school cheer! At Jr. Cougar Night, you will cheer alongside the Center HS cheerleaders during a CHS Varsity home football game.

Competition**: Compete against other youth organizations at a nationally recognized cheer competition. Competition will be held locally or in the bay area. Date to be announced.
